Windows 11 wakes immediately after entering sleep

Environment

Environment

Windows 11 24H2 on a Ryzen 7 desktop with an Intel Wi-Fi adapter.

What happens

What happens

The PC sleeps for two seconds and then wakes by itself. Event Viewer reports an unknown wake source.

What I have tried

What I have tried

Disabled wake timers and unplugged USB devices, but the behaviour continues.

I would appreciate advice on how to identify the root cause without risking existing data or configuration.

The symptoms fit this explanation quite well.

Likely cause: The network adapter is allowed to wake the computer through a pattern match.

What I would try: Open Device Manager, disable wake-on-pattern-match for the network adapter, then verify available wake sources with powercfg /devicequery wake_armed.

Take a backup or note the current setting first so you can roll back easily.

Thanks, this gives me a concrete test. I will try it with the current configuration backed up first.

Suggested Fixes

Verify the likely cause
Open Device Manager, disable wake-on-pattern-match for the network adapter, then verify available wake sources with powercfg /devicequery wake_armed.
Validate and monitor
Reproduce the issue once after the change, review relevant logs or metrics, and keep a rollback path until the system has remained stable.
